My Golf Story
“Your mind is the generator, your body is the motor. The club is the trigger, the ball is the bullet. TAKE AIM & FIRE!” (Moe Norman). My inspiration grew from this quote as it explains how simple golf is, yet in reality, it is so hard. Why?
When I was 3 years old, my dad bought me a Dora kiddie putting set and showed me how to putt. I would be putting every day. He saw my interest in golf and started taking me to the range to hit some balls with rental clubs (which were way too heavy for me). And today after 11 years since I started, golf has grown to be my passion, and I am aspiring & striving to be the best LPGA player ever. I’m still putting every day, but with real balls, a real putter and on the actual golf green!
My dad was the one who got me into this sport by just handing me a heavy club and telling me to hit that tiny white ball into the hole. I always tried so hard, but it never came easy. I always wondered how hard can it be to hit that little white ball with a big club, yet I still missed most of the time.
I would work as hard as possible and soon enough not miss the ball at all. Although I still have difficulty getting the small sphere into a huge hole in the smallest amount of strokes possible, I enjoy the challenge. The challenge of figuring out what shots to hit in different lies, the challenge of handling pressure in tournaments, and so many other things. I will continue to persevere and work hard to reach my goal of becoming the best LPGA player ever and inspire future generations.
A Day With Pros
What an amazing experience to meet & talk to the Pros!
I have been impressed by not only her game knowledge but also her ability to adapt to changes. Her understanding of the game, in my opinion, separates her from many students her age. As a former college coach, I see attributes in Swetha that would make her an incredible college player. Her work ethic, ability to accept coaching, understanding of the golf swing, and demeanour are just a few of the attributes she possesses that would be an asset to any college team. She is driven and has the desire to play at the highest level, which helps keep her motivated to improve. Without question, Swetha will be an outstanding teammate, contributor, and student-athlete
I had the opportunity to coach Swetha and her golf development. She is very athletic at this point in her development and she had a clear understanding of her role in the development program.
Coaching Swetha for the past two years has been a great experience and we continue to build our relationship together. Swetha is one of the hardest-working athletes who truly love to perfect her craft and is dedicated to achieving her goals. She often looks for opportunities outside of golf to better herself physically through fitness and strength training, and mentally through personal self-development.
